I’m Robin Love, a recently divorced, single mom, returning to school, at 40. I live in St. Petersburg, Fl. where I have resided for almost 14 years. Being born and raised in Indiana, I truly feel lucky to live in the “Sunshine State.”
I was married for 17 years. We moved To St. Petersburg after my “ex” graduated Dental School. We didn’t know anyone, and I was 6 months, pregnant. We were broke, jobless, a baby on the way and patiently waiting on his board results.
Three months later, Spencer (who is now 13), was born. We were so excited but we were about to face another hurdle. Spencer was born with a rare heart condition and had open-heart surgery when he was 27 days, old. He made it through like a champ and the “ex” passed his boards, too!
Everything was great until a few years, ago. We separated, Spencer had his second heart surgery, and we had to move.
It was a blessing; I was fortunate to be a “stay at home” mom to our only child. The downside is, I worked while the “ex” was in Dental school and didn’t continue with my own education.
Here I am, starting over at 40! I’m enrolled online, in the Music Business program at Full Sail University. My goal is to have a career in the music industry. If I listened to everyone’s opinion, I would be in nursing school, right now. Just like 14 years ago, I’m doing something risky but I have to go where my passion is. If mama ain’t happy, no one is happy!
